ソフトウェアのローカライズ（多言語対応に伴う地域化）は、Windowsのような大掛かりなものになると、一言一句違和感の無いようにするためには、かなりの労力が必要な作業だと思います。
今までも、
●メモリが"read"になることはできませんでした。
●このプログラムは不正な処理を行ったので強制終了されます。
などの味のある訳語は、一度は目にしたことがあるかと思います。
せまりくる発売日に間に合わせるために、日夜作業に明け暮れたエンジニアたちの苦労の跡がうかがえます。
そこで、来年発売されるWindows8では、訳語の募集を開始したそうです。
